Attention Viewers: Leave your thoughts on this matter so these kennel clubs, owners, breeders and judges all understand we the public will not tolerate these ghastly acts. Documentary (2008) Current Affairs: Man’s obsession with creating the “perfect” dog has led to an absurdly strong emphasis on appearance with more time being spent on refining the colour and quality of coats than on improving the health and welfare of the animal. As a result we have created dogs that have difficulty breathing, difficulty walking and running, dogs that can’t give birth naturally, dogs with chronic back, ear, skin and eye problems.

I guess you two think there should be no dogs at all. some people dont have a clue on how to breed. but some do, and inbreeding is to keep the best of the dog in the breed. and dogs that are junk should not be breed.

People do not inbreed because it is not moral. Dogs eat poop and do not care about morals. I do think extended inbreeding cause problems though. Pugs are an example of freak show breeding.

The problem is not inbreeding, it’s the bozos selecting the dogs from which to breed… Selection is made on cosmetic ideals set by a bunch of pompous fools thinking they know the best for the breed and their puppets breeding to those standards, thanks for ruining so many breeds Kennel Club.

I recently read a book that commented that people who show their dogs would sell them at the drop of a hat…the ones who won’t are the people who train their dogs eg agility, flyball etc…how true this statement is when you see the health and well being of a dog put last on the list and what the “kennel club” affirms as its cosmetic (albeit false) beauty at the top. If you read this, please tell everyone you know about these cruelties afflicted on man’s so called bestfriend.

I totally agree…any decent person who cares about the well being of an animal would not condone such stupidity!

inbreeding/linebreeding is a very usefull tool if you want to establish a certain bloodline.
it’s not bad, nor is it dangerous for the dogs, but you got to know what the hell you’re doing!
if you don’t want to cull, and I mean cull HARD when need be, than it’s probably NOT a good thing to inbreed/linebreed.

very few people are GOOD, devoted breeders who truely care about the dogs, and there is where lies the problem, period.

Its dangerous if you dont take the extra mile to do all health test even the ones not required to make sure the bloodline can be deemed healthy. Too many people over look allergies and allergins plays a big role on a dogs health. But that is my goal with the Cane Corso in the future as my new one will be hopefully if not I will get her fixed and try with another untill I have the most healthy cane corso bloodline ever!

They sell there dogs if they are not the best not cruel but yet to offer the best healthy dogs of the show dogs. If every show breeder was to keep there favorite dog and it doesn’t cut it. They would have way to many dogs and bitch’s!

Possibly drive breeds away LOL. You mean drive the people making a living off of puppies income away. But imk not against selling dogs for a living because it cost a bunch of money to to care of dogs. The time it requires is overwelming for someone with a 9-5!

@crossface1 so if you and your bother had beautiful eyes, and you both wanted to preserve that characteristic in you’re bloodline, you would have sex to try to reproduce those beautiful eyes? even though your child might be born with part of its brain protruding from it’s ear? :)

I assume you mean brother. Last time i checked male speciesdon’t reproduce. Next thing i can see you no nothing of breeding dogs. Take a look at any pedigree of any breed and you will see inbreeding/line breeding.

You assumed right. Minor typo. Fine then, sister.

And duh, breeder in/line breed. It’s common knowledge and a major theme in this documentary. That doesn’t make it alright. What’s the point of the last sentence of your comment?

hope people realise that most dog show people/breeders in the world have outstanding ethics :) show people do love their dogs as pets, breeders are often times also rescuers and avid advocates of ethical treatment for animals. I’ve seen many increadible efforts made by the groups some are pidgeon-holing to benefit the community/all dogs/rescue/animal welfare. I plan to show one day, I also rescue dogs and care deeply for animal welfare issues - I don’t see that as a culture clash at all.

Umm , Maybe thats why my recent dogs have been working lines from south russia/chez rep/Hungary. My recent dogs have been from working lines, meaning the stronger dogs tend to get bred, not the pretty dogs. I feel even tho my dogs tend to be more aggressive, at the same time they also have fewer health issues. AKC means nothing to me, as a matter of fact, my breed of choice is not recognized by the AKC because there are too many variations from region to region within the breeds gene pool.
