The show was a huge success and Skavlan went on to win the Swedish Television Award for Best Television Host, the first Norwegian to do so. Actually, you’re all wrong. Skavlan is recorded in Olso, Norway, Skavlan himself is Norwegian and in his talkshow it’s both Swedish, Norwegian and Internation guests. The show is broadcast in SWEDEN on SVT (Sveriges Television). So the TV-show is Swedish but the production is in Oslo, Norway.

The show was on the air for nearly 10 years before it came to Sweden. It was such a hit in Norway that SVT started airing the Norwegian version in 2005
The Norwegian version became a hit in Sweden aswell, so SVT was interested in doing a cross country project with NRK, thereby including Swedish guests and having it in both Stockh. and Oslo
It was originally named “Først og Sist med Fredrik Skavlan”(19982007) but everyone just called it “Skavlan” that’s why it was eventually renamed to Skavlan.

Skavlan (show and host) was made in Sweden on the Norwegian consept by the same host called “Først og sist” and became huge Sweden. The next seasons has been a cooperation between NRK and SVT and has been a powerball without comparison. The show is swedish in the sense it was shown under the name “Skavlan” first, but the show is still norwegian in sense of the fact that it is only a continuation of Skavlans first show under a different name. Skavlan is thus a svorsk show.

Sweden, Norway and Denmark have ties both genetically and language wise and culturally. Finland used to be a part of Sweden but the finnish language is not related to other scandinavian languages and their culture is more like russian than scandinavian.
